आरबीआइ ने बताए सही नोट पहचानने के गुर

Bank management ‘ignoring’ rural areas in Shimla, Sirmaur

........The Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have asked all the rural banks to achieve financial inclusion by opening minimum of 10 per cent more branches every year in the areas with a fewer number of banks. The villagers said rural banks were not providing banking facilities in Shimla district, Dewat, Bamta, Nerwa, Kupvi, Sarahan and Chopal areas. Matiana, Bekhlati, Sandhu, Kharapathar, Jubbal, Hatkoti, Chaila, Tikkar and Spail in the Rohru subdivision had no rural bank branches, they said. The HPGB is yet to start ATM services in its branches.........

......Over the past few years, particularly in the aftermath of the global financial crisis, the importance of Financial Education and Financial Literacy has come to be widely acknowledged. This recognition has led countries to initiate programmes to disseminate financial literacy among its citizens. As the OECD’s definition of financial literacy indicates, it is “a combination of financial awareness, knowledge, skills, attitude and behaviours necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual financial 2 BIS central bankers’ speeches wellbeing”. I would argue that financial literacy is not only important for financial well-being of the masses; it is also a sine qua non for the economic well-being of the nation as a whole......

RESERVE BANK OF FIJI SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE RESERVE BANK OF INDIA

The Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 5 March 2013. According to the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Barry Whiteside, the MOU marks an achievement for the two institutions and will form the basis for enhanced cooperation and information sharing in the area of banking supervision. For the RBF, this is the first such MOU it has engaged in with a fellow regulatory institution.....

'SBI asset quality may stabilise in FY14'
