RBI puts half of forex reserves in govt bonds

.....the central bank’s investment of forex reserves is driven by the objective of safety, liquidity and the goal of maximising returns is embedded in these objectives, RBI said.

Gold component in forex reserves needs to be at least doubled during this decade. Such a realignment may even improve the rate of return in the current scenario. For the purpose GOI and RBI should tap domestic stock of gold.
