The bank in question is one of India’s largest foreign banks and the branch in question is situated in the heart of New Delhi—not a small co-operative bank in the boondocks somewhere, so the argument that the bank branch had never heard of such a request is a bit hard to digest. Two, if the person is actually an account holder, how is it that the bank refused to validate this fact? It was only after SK complained to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI; the country’s banking regulator) that things started to move............
